Adding Voting Buttons
Learn how to use voting buttons so others can share their opinion or feedback on certain cards.
When to use
To understand the benefits of having users vote on cards. To learn how to enable this power-up within a board.
Instructions
Power-ups give your boards additional features and integrations with other applications. Boards belonging to free users can turn on one power-up at a time while boards belonging to business class users can have unlimited power-ups.
Enabling Power-Ups
Enable power-ups by selecting Power-Ups from the board menu. Then select Enable or Disable to activate or deactivate the power-ups you would like to use. NOTE: You have to be a member of that board's team to enable power-ups.
Voting Permissions
You can control who can vote by selecting the settings gear icon which will show Voting Settings > Who is allowed to vote on cards? Options will vary depending on board visibility and team type: nobody, board members, members of the board's team, or the public.
Add or Remove a Vote
People can vote on cards by selecting the Vote button in the open card. The button will appear green if you have voted for the card. Selecting this button again will remove your vote.
Login to download- 00:04 Depending on the types of projects in which you are managing,
- 00:08 you might find it helpful to receive votes from different members of your team.
- 00:14 Or if you are managing a public board, you may want other potential customers or
- 00:20 potential clients to vote on certain cards.
- 00:24 This may help you determine as to which tasks, or
- 00:27 which new projects you will pursue in the future.
- 00:30 Well, Trello gives us a special power-up so, we can do just that.
- 00:35 Allow people to vote on particular cards.
- 00:39 By selecting the Power-Up menu, there is a Voting Power-Up option.
- 00:44 And we have a little gear icon beside it when this Power-Up is enabled.
- 00:49 Now the only choice that we have to make here is to
- 00:52 who is allowed to vote on cards.
- 00:56 By default, the Members Only selection will be selected.
- 01:00 However, we do have a few other options.
- 01:03 Members and Observes could be selected, if you subscribe to Travel Business Class.
- 01:09 You can allow only Team Members to vote on cards,
- 01:12 and if your board is public you can allow Public Members to vote as well.
- 01:18 In this example, I'm going to leave it as members only.
- 01:21 So let's close this menu and see what happens within our Trello cards.
- 01:27 By opening up a card under the Actions section you will see that
- 01:31 there is a new button, a Vote button.
- 01:34 By selecting this button, I can vote for this particular card.
- 01:41 And here you can see a summary of the total number of votes for this card.
- 01:45 I'm the first one to vote, so there is just one vote on this card.
- 01:50 There will also be a green check mark indicator beside the button telling me
- 01:54 that I have voted.
- 01:55 Now, I can always click this button on and
- 01:58 off to toggle my vote and I can do the same thing up here.
- 02:02 I can choose to remove my vote if I would like.
- 02:07 You will also see on the front of the card that there is a new voting icon.
- 02:12 So I can see at a glance, which cards have received at least one vote.
- 02:17 And it will also show me the total number of votes.
- 02:21 If we open up this card and I select the 2 votes.
- 02:25 I can also see which members have voted for this particular card.
- 02:30 In case I want to reach out and find out the information
- 02:33 or find out more about why they chose to vote for this card.
- 02:38 So the Voting power-up button can be a very effective way to gather feedback,
- 02:43 either from your own team members who are attached or assigned or
- 02:47 have access to this board;
- 02:49 or if you're wanting to get feedback from the public, and
- 02:53 you have a public board, you can allow them to vote for certain cards as well.
