Sales Funnel
Learn how to create a simple sales funnel and turn your prospective clients into paying customers.
When to use
To understand how Trello can be used to manage a sales pipeline process. To view an example of the various stages within a sales funnel.
Instructions
Trello is an excellent application for managing a process where a card moves from one step to another. Within a board, each list can represent a new step in the process as the card travels along its journey from left to right.
A sales funnel (also known as a sales pipeline) refers to the buying process that companies lead customers through when purchasing products or services. A sales funnel is divided into several steps, which differ depending on the particular sales model.
The different lists represented in this Sales Funnel example include:
Inquiry: This is where the customer begins their journey. They may have filled out a form on your website or contacted you directly.
Follow-Up: This list represents all of the potential customers which you have contacted and sent further information.
Meeting Scheduled: This list represents all potential customers who you have scheduled a meeting with.
Proposal Sent: This list includes all potential customers who have received a proposal of your services.
Decision Maker Buy-In: This list represents all potential customers who have shown interest from a key decision maker within their organization.
Closed - Won: This list includes all of the customers who have signed a contract and closed a deal.
Closed - Lost: This list includes all of the potential customers who did not complete the entire sales process.
Login to download- 00:04 Now that you have a firm understanding of the different features and
- 00:08 functionality within the Trello application,
- 00:11 let's take a look at some examples of how we can use Trello.
- 00:14 Whether it's in your professional life or in your personal life,
- 00:18 Trello is such a flexible tool to manage or organize almost anything.
- 00:23 In the next few videos, I'm gonna show you how you can use Trello,
- 00:27 either for personal projects, or for collaborating with a team.
- 00:32 Let's start off by taking a look at the sales funnel, or
- 00:36 sometimes referred to as a sales pipeline.
- 00:39 A sales funnel is essential for any successful business.
- 00:44 It begins with your clients first finding out about your product or services, and
- 00:50 then taking them through a series of steps before you can close or complete a sale.
- 00:57 So in this Sales Funnel board, I have set up several lists,
- 01:01 each indicating or representing a different phase within the sales funnel.
- 01:07 Here, we start with the Inquiry.
- 01:09 And this is when someone is first finding out about your business,
- 01:14 your product, or your service.
- 01:16 And as we learned earlier by using the email capability, you could actually
- 01:22 have your cards appear within this list, directly from an email form.
- 01:27 For example, perhaps on your website,
- 01:29 you have a form where potential customers can learn more.
- 01:33 You could actually have that form redirect directly here, so
- 01:38 that their information pre-populates right here within this list.
- 01:42 Otherwise, you can just manually add your potential customers directly to this list,
- 01:47 or forward from your own email client.
- 01:51 Now, our goal of any any sales funnel or sales pipeline is to bring
- 01:56 a customer from this first stage all the way to a sale at the end of the pipeline.
- 02:02 But there are several steps that need to happen before that sale can be completed.
- 02:08 Next, we have the Follow-Up.
- 02:10 So once someone first reaches out or inquires about your services,
- 02:14 you wanna make sure that you can follow-up with that customer either by email, or
- 02:18 phone call, or some other communication method.
- 02:22 Next, you may want to set up a meeting.
- 02:25 And of course, we can add a due date,
- 02:27 which in this case represents the date of that meeting with this particular client.
- 02:33 Next in the process would be a proposal being sent.
- 02:37 After you've met with this prospective customer,
- 02:40 you have the opportunity to send them the proposal.
- 02:43 And here, you can see, in these particular examples,
- 02:46 I actually have the proposal attached directly to the card.
- 02:50 Again, that's one of the great advantages of using Trello within a sales funnel or
- 02:56 sales pipeline.
- 02:57 You can keep that information, you can keep your documents, your attachments,
- 03:03 your commitments such as these meeting dates directly with the card.
- 03:08 Next on, we may want to transition this person into
- 03:12 the Decision Maker Buy-In list.
- 03:14 So have we reached out and have we identified and
- 03:17 contacted the person who is going to be able to sign a contract or
- 03:22 make that decision to purchase that particular service.
- 03:26 And then our last step is one of two choices.
- 03:30 You'll see here that I have two different lists, Closed- Won and Closed- Lost.
- 03:37 Now, ideally, we hope to transition someone to the Closed- Won list.
- 03:42 This means that they have purchased our product or service,
- 03:45 that we have actually made a sale.
- 03:48 But of course not everyone is going to make it into this particular list.
- 03:52 And at different points along the sales funnel,
- 03:55 you may want to transition them into the Closed- Lost area.
- 03:59 This could be very helpful in case you want to circle back and
- 04:03 reach out to this client in the future.
- 04:06 Remember, they may have declined your product or services initially, but
- 04:11 you may want to revisit them in a number of weeks or
- 04:14 a number of months when they may be ready to purchase your services.
- 04:19 So a sales funnel or a sales pipeline,
- 04:22 an excellent way to use Trello to manage such an important business process.
