Login to download- 00:04 In this exercise, we are going to review how to use bullets and numbering, but
- 00:09 it's very important that you make sure your ruler is turned on.
- 00:12 So let's take a moment just to check.
- 00:14 We'll go ahead to click on the View ribbon up at the top and over on the left,
- 00:18 we should have a check mark in the box that says Ruler.
- 00:21 And you should visibly be able to see a ruler above your document and
- 00:25 to the left-hand side of your document.
- 00:27 And just for good measure, please also on the bottom right make sure you are on this
- 00:31 middle button, it is the print layout button.
- 00:34 All right, since that's taken care of, let's go ahead and apply bullets and
- 00:37 numbering.
- 00:38 Now, bullets and numbering are simply switches, they're on, off switches.
- 00:41 They're located on the Home ribbon and then right over here,
- 00:44 we have bullets I can turn it on, turn it off.
- 00:46 And we have numbering, I can turn it on, turn it off, it's that easy.
- 00:50 Another way we do that is we could right-click on our list, and
- 00:54 the mini bar serves up, yes, bullets on, off or numbering on, off as well.
- 01:00 But we're gonna take this a step further, so let's do this again,
- 01:03 I wanna make sure my entire list is selected.
- 01:05 Remember, the computer only works with what you tell it to, by highlighting or
- 01:10 selecting your list.
- 01:12 Let's go ahead and look at bullets.
- 01:13 I don't think I want just the black dots, so
- 01:16 I'll hit the drop down arrow next to it.
- 01:19 And notice, here is a list of all the recently used bullets and right down here,
- 01:24 we have define new bullet.
- 01:25 When you click into Define New Bullet you can change the font.
- 01:29 You can have a picture, literally take a picture of someone and have it as this
- 01:33 little tiny bullet, or Symbol, now Symbol, this is where we have some fun.
- 01:37 When you click on Symbol, here is every list of every font style.
- 01:43 They all have their own little set of bullets.
- 01:45 One of the fun one is in here.
- 01:48 Wingdings are pretty fun, but Webdings are kind of great,
- 01:51 cuz here you get little icons.
- 01:53 You can literally have little buses as bullets, and I'll go ahead and
- 01:58 hit OK, there we go.
- 01:59 And when I hit OK again, there we go, little, tiny busses, and
- 02:02 you can change the bullet for whatever one.
- 02:04 And now, at this point, maybe I just want the buses to be a different color.
- 02:08 So I can literally change the font of just the bullet,
- 02:12 without changing the font of the words.
- 02:14 So just to have some fun, what if you don't want a bullet on produce?
- 02:18 Because produce is sort of the head of the whole thing.
- 02:21 Just click into the word produce, and turn off the bullet for that one.
- 02:25 Now, we have produce with the bulleted list underneath.
- 02:28 All right, let's go ahead and reset that.
- 02:30 I'll select them all, turn them on, turn them off, and
- 02:33 now let's go over move to numbers.
- 02:35 Click on Numbering, and that applies 1 through 7.
- 02:39 Now, one of these, for instance, Avocado, I'm going to color Avocado red.
- 02:44 So I want you to keep your eye on this, I want to reorganize this alphabetically.
- 02:49 So I'm gonna select the entire list.
- 02:52 And right up here on your Home ribbon, we do have a sorting button.
- 02:56 We can sort this alphabetically, A to Z, by Paragraphs, by Text,
- 03:00 Ascending is A to Z, and I'll hit OK, and there, just reorganized all of it.
- 03:05 But notice, a moment ago Avocados was number 6, see when you reorganize, and
- 03:09 they are already numbered, they'll actually remember themselves as well.
- 03:13 Well, take a look at produce, I really didn't want to reorganize that one.
- 03:17 I want that to be the title, so I'm going to turn off bulleting for that number, and
- 03:21 everything renumbered itself, but I want produce to move up on the list.
- 03:25 So I'm going to ahead triple click that line, and on my keyboard,
- 03:30 I'm pressing Alt + Shift + Up arrow,
- 03:33 that does a hot-skip jump through the other paragraphs.
- 03:37 I'll just type that so you can see that Alt Shift and then up or down arrows.
- 03:44 Alt Shift up arrow will hot-skip jump through paragraphs,
- 03:48 it's kind of a great way to leapfrog through your paragraphs.
- 03:51 All right, as far as our numbers, I think we got that covered,
- 03:56 we got our bullets covered.
- 03:57 That's it, I will see you in the next lesson.
