- 00:05 Hello. In this video,
- 00:06 I'd like to tell you about paper orientation and paper size.
- 00:09 Sometimes you have the need to change these settings, and
- 00:12 it's very simple to do.
- 00:14 If you'll take a look at the page layout ribbon.
- 00:17 Right over here we have the orientation button, and we have the size button.
- 00:20 Now, in order for you to see this example,
- 00:23 I have changed my zoom control down here on the bottom right.
- 00:26 I have lowered my zoom control so
- 00:27 that you can see the changes on the paper when I change these settings.
- 00:31 I'm gonna go ahead and come up to the orientation button.
- 00:34 Hit that drop down arrow, and I have two options, portrait and landscape.
- 00:38 When I click landscape, my paper flips onto its side,
- 00:41 but my text stayed vertical.
- 00:44 All my margins stayed the same as well.
- 00:46 In order to set that back, we simply go to orientation and
- 00:49 change it back to portrait, and now it's back to the normal portrait view.
- 00:53 If you wanna change your paper size, we simply click size.
- 00:56 Right now it's set to letter.
- 00:58 I can choose legal.
- 00:58 If I'm in the legal profession they use the longer pieces of paper.
- 01:02 I'll click legal, and I actually have a scroll bar appear over here.
- 01:06 I have to scroll down just to see how long that paper is.
- 01:09 You can also change it to the executive letter size.
- 01:12 In corporate executive world they use a smaller sheet of paper.
- 01:16 Now it's going to be hard to tell.
- 01:17 It looks a lot like the 8.5 x 11 but keep an eye on my top ruler.
- 01:21 Okay? Right now it's 8.5 x 14,
- 01:23 and I've got a 7 over here on my ruler edge.
- 01:27 Let me choose executive, and look what happens.
- 01:29 It shrunk it up, and I have only have a 6 on the ruler edge.
- 01:32 So that's how at a glance if you're questioning, did that size actually apply?
- 01:36 Just take a look at your ruler, and it'll always tell you.
- 01:39 Maybe you have a special paper size, so you're not any of these other ones.
- 01:43 Or you're not an envelope paper size, that's what the ENV stands for,
- 01:48 envelope paper size.
- 01:49 But maybe you went to a stationary store, purchased some lovely letterhead.
- 01:53 I'm sorry, some lovely stationary.
- 01:56 And you can click more paper sizes.
- 01:58 Get out your own personal ruler.
- 02:00 Measure your paper size, and enter those measurements right here.
- 02:04 So let's say that the width is 5.5 inches, and the height is 7 inches.
- 02:11 And when you click you see the preview happening down here.
- 02:14 It changes as you apply the measurements.
- 02:16 When you click Ok, just go ahead and check.
- 02:19 Look at my ruler up on top.
- 02:20 Same one inch margin so I might want to change my margins on this.
- 02:24 But look at my little piece of paper.
- 02:27 That will fit my stationary.
- 02:28 Of course I would dash over to my printer with my brand new stationary and
- 02:32 load that into my printer.
- 02:33 I could hit print this right now if I had 8 1/2 x 11, but keep in mind it's just
- 02:37 gonna be a little corner of the paper is going to be printed on.
- 02:41 All right, if you want to set everything back to normal simply hit size.
- 02:44 Go back to regular letter size.
- 02:46 Make sure your orientation is set at portrait, and
- 02:48 you're back to your normal print settings.
- 02:51 So, that's it.
- 02:52 I hope you learned a little something about how easy it is to change your
- 02:55 orientation and your paper size
